The Impeachment Proceedings Against President Joe Biden
5 min readOn a consequential Friday, the United States political scene was jolted by an unexpected development. Republican Representative Greg Steube from Florida took a significant step against President Joe Biden, filing articles of impeachment. The allegations leveled against Biden are serious and encompass several criminal offenses, including bribery, extortion, fraud, obstruction of justice, and financial involvement in drugs and prostitution.
Steube’s Statement
Steube’s public statement following the filing of the impeachment articles was nothing short of scathing. He accused Biden of undermining the integrity of his office and bringing disrepute to the Presidency. He further claimed that the President has betrayed his trust as President and acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, thereby harming the interests of American citizens.
“It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,” Steube proclaimed, “The evidence continues to mount by the day – the Biden Crime Family has personally profited off Joe’s government positions through bribery, threats, and fraud. Joe Biden must not be allowed to continue to sit in the White House, selling out our country.”
Articles of Impeachment: Detailed Examination
The articles of impeachment leveled against Biden are comprehensive, encompassing four distinct charges. Each charge is supported by pertinent evidence provided to the House Republicans, shedding light on Biden’s alleged corrupt behavior.
Article 1: Abuse of Power
The first allegation against Biden pertains to the abuse of power. Steube asserts that Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his brother, James Biden, sold access to Biden during his tenure as Vice President (2009-2017) and promised access to a potential future Biden Presidential Administration (2017-2021). The charges claim that the Biden family members threatened business partners with official actions if they failed to meet terms or make payments. In at least one instance, it is implied that Joe Biden was aware of these threats and willing to assist in enforcing them.
Article 2: Obstruction of Justice
The second article of impeachment accuses Biden of obstruction of justice. Steube cites testimony from IRS whistleblowers, claiming that members of the Biden campaign improperly colluded with Justice Department (DOJ) officials to interfere with investigations into tax crimes alleged to have been committed by Hunter Biden.
Article 3: Fraud
The third article pertains to fraud allegations. According to Steube, James Biden purportedly recruited ‘investors’ for business ventures that ultimately failed based on false pretenses and promises. It is suggested that access to Joe Biden and indications of his support were used to lure investors into these schemes.
Article 4: Financial Involvement in Drugs and Prostitution
The fourth and final article alleges financial involvement in drugs and prostitution. Steube claims that Joe Biden and Hunter Biden have a history of co-mingled finances, and thousands of dollars of Biden family money was spent on illegal drug transactions and prostitution between 2010 and 2019.
Steube’s Appearance on Newsmax
Before filing the articles of impeachment, Steube appeared on Newsmax with conservative commentator David Harris Jr., revealing his plans. During the conversation, Steube asserted that they had all the facts and evidence required for the impeachment.
“Tomorrow, I intend on filing an impeachment resolution on Joe Biden for bribery, for extortion, obstruction of justice, fraud, financial involvement in drugs and prostitution,” he declared. “We have all the facts and evidence now. In the beginning of this Congress, Republicans wanted to make sure that we did the investigations, that we got the information before the American people.”
The Evidence Supporting the Impeachment
When asked if the evidence backing the articles of impeachment would be shown to the American people, Steube confirmed that the proof would come to light in a press release. The House Republicans have since unveiled a plethora of evidence that points towards Biden’s corruption, marking a stark contrast to the Democrats who impeached former President Donald Trump over a phone call with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and baseless accusations of collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
The Irony of Biden’s Impeachment
It is worth noting the irony of Biden’s impeachment. During a town hall event in New Hampshire, then-candidate Biden had called for Trump’s impeachment, saying, “To preserve our Constitution, our democracy, our basic integrity, he should be impeached.” Little did Biden know that he would also be facing impeachment in the future.
The Changing Narrative
Initially, the Democrats, including Biden himself, denied that the president ever spoke with his son, Hunter Biden, about his business dealings. However, Hunter Biden’s business associate, Devon Archer, later revealed that Joe Biden did speak with Hunter and him regarding their foreign business dealings.
Archer disclosed a handwritten letter from then-Vice President Joe Biden. The letter had the sentence: “P.S. Happy you guys are together,” seemingly referring to the relationship between Archer and Hunter. This revelation raised questions about Biden’s involvement in his son’s business dealings.
The White House’s Response
The White House initially denied that Biden had any conversations with his son about his business dealings. However, in light of the recent evidence, they’ve changed their narrative, asserting that Biden was not directly involved in his son’s business dealings. The impeachment articles challenge this claim, accusing Biden of lying to the American people about his involvement in corrupt foreign business dealings.
The impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden mark a tumultuous turn in American politics. The allegations against the president are severe and carry severe consequences if proven true. While the impeachment’s outcome remains uncertain, the development has undoubtedly shaken the foundations of the Biden administration. As the proceedings unfold, it will be crucial to see how the President and his team respond to these charges.
